Wrapping up 2025

As 2025 draws to a close I (Baxter) just want to give a quick recap of Rodent Rampage, and an update of where we stand in terms of a release date. We’re very excited to announce that we released private playtesting to an exclusive group of people last weekend (particularly a great contact we have at Weaver Games who has been kind enough to send out a good batch). Even thought it’s holidays these last couple months we’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to have some time off from our day jobs to really dive into Rodent Rampage.

As for updates

The newest features we have to announce are a fully functional, elegant Steamworks friends UI and UX where you can invite, add, and manage up to 4 players live in Rodent Rampage from any of the main menus. We’ve also added some updated polish to the player HUD to represent damage, powerup charge, and certain aiming features. I updated a few other elements of the in game UI, the character select menu, main menu, settings menu, and friends UI to be more cohesive and polished.

Casey has started work on coding the new player weapons systems, and I’m on standby for asset creation until the code framework and base functionality is in place.

I’ve started developing a new level design (see header image) for our second level. This new level is called The Playroom. The concept is a child’s playroom proportional in size to what a rodent would actually encounter! There will be all manner of exciting new physics engagement and chaotic elements to enhance players’ experience. Having a strong variety of levels will really enhance the core gameplay and keep users engaged. It will also help to keep gameplay from becoming stagnant and predictable.

Our Steam page was officially approved for the playtest, but we have a few more steps left setting up the main Steam store page before we can publish our beta, early access, or wishlisting.

Stay tuned for updates and follow along on X.com and Youtube.
